Leaving Certificate Spanish can be studied as a one or two year programme, either as a full-time day school student or as an external student as an ‘extra subject’.

Spanish as a Leaving Cert subject aims to bring students closer to fluency in the Spanish language. As the second most used language in the world, it has widespread use in international business and makes travel to Spain, Mexico, and most of South America more accessible.
The course consists of the study of a variety of aspects of Spanish under the following headings:
The written exam is worth 55%, the aural 20% and the oral 25% which takes place in April.
