Designed for those who wish to gain entry to Teacher Training College and require a C3 or above in Honours Irish in the Leaving Certificate. The course is offered weekly in the evenings throughout the school year and covers the prescribed Leaving Certificate course, in full, in one year. A C3 is required for entry to Primary Teacher Training in St. Patrick’s, Drumcondra, Coláiste Mhuire (Marino Institute of Education), Griffith Avenue, Froebel College of Education, Maynooth, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, Church of Ireland College of Education, Rathmines, and Hibernia College, Dublin (online).

The majority of those who register for this programme are mature students who have already completed the Leaving Certificate. Colm Ó Cearúil, our expert Irish language teacher, is experienced in teaching classes of mature students and all segments of the examination are covered with graded assessments. All students have the opportunity to take a mock oral exam in the Spring to complete their preparation.

“I would highly recommend the Irish Primary Teachers class in Ashfield College. We received individual attention from the Irish teacher Colm. Even though I hadn’t looked at Irish in over 17 years, it turned out to be a most enjoyable experience. I would recommend the class and Colm to anyone facing these examinations.”
Claire McClean, Ashfield College, Class of 2011-2012 (H Dip Primary Ed candidate, 2012)
