Leaving Cert French Higher Level Revision Course
Each student will receive more than six hours of expert classroom tuition either in daily classes of 75 minutes over the course of a week in Dundrum or in a block of five 75 minute classes over the course of one full-day in Dundrum. Students will also receive our exclusive Ashfield College Revision Notes.
Sequential Classes will include:
Topic 1: Exam Guide
A comprehensive study of mark allocations and exam technique on each area of the exam paper – reading, writing and aural. Students will study how to maximise marks in these areas in the exam and we will also look at time allocations per question.
Topic 2: Grammar Review
Students will review some key areas of grammar including the following topics:
→ Les Verbes Pronominaux
→ La Négation
→ Les Pronoms
→ La Terminologie Grammaire
Topic 3: Les Temps
Students will review summaries of the main tenses such as Le Présent, Le Passé Composé, L’imparfait, Le Futur, Le Conditionnel & Le Plus-que-parfait
Topic 4: La Production Écrite
Areas of study include: → Le Journal Intime
→Les Expressions Générales
(General phrases, including idiomatic expressions, for written pieces. Students will also learn expressions of opinion and phrases to help them structure a solid written piece in French.)
→ Written Expressions using the subjunctive in French
→ Fait Divers: L’émigration
La Discrimination Raciale
→ Le Petit Mot (Writing a message or an e-mail )
Topic 5: Sample Answers
Students will study some sample answers on all written sections of the Leaving Certificate Higher Level French Exam.

Nicky is a dynamic and inspirational teacher of modern languages, who graduated with the highest grade ever achieved for the PGCE from the University of Manchester. Nicky has more than 20 years’ experience teaching both French & German to Leaving Cert level, and has worked at Ashfield College since 1997. During her time at Ashfield College she was Director of TEFL, where she was in charge of curriculum and teaching. Nicky is an extremely exam-focused, practical and enthusiastic teacher who inspires her students to achieve their maximum potential in the State Exams.
