  • Exam technique
The way the exam is laid out and marked makes this section very important, so it will be covered in detail.  Approximately 80% of the questions come from 40% of the material in the syllabus. Methods of maximising results will be given. The advantages of diagrams will be discussed as will their use as a revision tool. The importance of definitions will be discussed.
  • Genetics
In this section cell division and genetic crosses will be covered along with evolution and natural selection.
  • Microbiology
This accounts for more than one question most years so it will be covered in detail. Topics will include bacteria, fungi, viruses and Amoeba.
  • Ecology
Both theoretical and practical ecology will be covered. There is always a full question on this topic in Section C of the exam and sometimes more than one. It is also asked in Section B, which deals with the experiments.
  • Human Reproduction
A frequently questioned section that is often answered poorly by students. It will be covered in such a way that the students will gain the required knowledge with the minimum of material to be learned.
  • Photosynthesis, Respiration & Enzymes
At least one, often two, and sometimes all three of these topics come up. Many students find them difficult but they will be explained simply and clearly. The experiments on these are questioned on a very regular basis.
  • Cell Structure and Function
This section is the basis of the whole subject. However the amount of information that has to be learned is relatively small so the important points will be covered leaving out the superfluous details.

The teacher, Peter Jackson, has been providing revision courses of the highest calibre for over 30 years. The experience he has gained over that time will prove invaluable to students preparing for the June exams.
