Taking Grinds in 4th year allows you to get ahead in key subjects.  Students who prepare consistently over two years for the Leaving Certificate achieve higher results in all key subject areas.

5th Year Higher Level Biology Weekly Grinds

Location: Ashfield College, Dundrum

Students attending this grind will receive a comprehensive set of notes written by our subject expert Anne Scully, who has 22 years’ experience teaching Leaving Cert Biology and is one of Ireland’s leading Biology teachers.

With 22 year teaching experience, Anne Scully is one of Ireland’s best loved and experienced Biology teachers. Her passion for her subject and ability to engage her students is second-to-none. Year on year, Anne’s students achieve remarkable results in the Leaving Certificate exams. Anne’s approach to teaching is practical, logical and fun.


5th Year Higher Level English Weekly Grinds

Location: Ashfield College, Dundrum

Our 5th Year English Higher Level Grind classes will offer students an excellent foundation for success in the Leaving Certificate exams in June 2019.   Our top teachers cover key elements of the syllabus, ensuring that all students have a firm understanding of the concepts and theories necessary to succeed in this subject.

Ashfield College also offers guidance on study skills, critical thinking and exam strategy, ensuring that students are ready to achieve their potential in the Leaving Certificate.

All registered students will receive 75 minutes of tuition per week over 30 weeks and a copy of our excellent and insightful Ashfield College notes.  Class sizes are restricted to ensure focused tuition.

Subjects:  English Higher & Geography 

Jennifer is an exceptionally popular and effective teacher who has taught both Geography and English at Ashfield College for over five years. She is passionate about her subjects, and has a gift for inspiring her students. She recognises the importance of the English language and the skills associated with it, not only as part of the Leaving Certificate syllabus for the subject itself, but across all other subjects also, especially now that such emphasis is placed on literacy in education.




5th Year Higher Level Irish Weekly Grinds

Location: Ashfield College, Dundrum

Students attending this grind will receive a comprehensive set of notes written by our expert, Matt O’Faolain. Matt’s 11 years of teaching experience and love for the Irish language means students both enjoy their classes and achieve high marks in exams.

Subjects: Irish & Irish For Primary Teaching

With eleven years teaching experience, including being a senior member of the teaching staff in Coláiste Árainn Mhóir Donegal, Matt is a dynamic and talented teacher who makes every effort to make Irish accessible for all of his students. He is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership in NUIM. Matt has vast experience of teaching the Irish for Primary Teaching course. He boasts over a 90 percent success rate to date, with the vast majority of students surpassing the H4 minimum requirement.


5th Year Maths Higher Weekly Grinds

Our 5th Year Maths Higher Level Grind classes offers students exceptional Maths tuition, ensuring an understanding of theories, concepts and practical applications of Mathematics for the Leaving Certificate exam in June 2019.  

Our top teachers deliver classes that enable a firm understanding of relevant theories, concepts and practical applications.   All registered students will receive 75 minutes of tuition per week over 30 weeks and a copy of our renowned Ashfield College notes.  Class sizes are restricted to ensure focused tuition for registered students.

As well as syllabus tuition, teachers will offer guidance on study skills and exam strategy, ensuring that students are well prepared to achieve their potential in the Leaving Certificate exam.

Steve Bracken

Subjects: Maths and Physics

Steve has been teaching for over twenty years in Coláiste Eoin, Stillorgan and has taught evening and revision courses in Ashfield College for more than five of those and still loves his job! He has held positions as Head of Maths, Head of Physics, IT Coordinator, as well as being an Assistant Principal in Coláiste Eoin. This amount of experience coupled with his enthusiasm for his subjects and for passing it on to students has resulted in high levels of positive feedback from Ashfield students over the years.
